Dear Members and friends of ADMA Well, now that we have opted out of 2007, I wanted to highlight the results of our recent Asia Pacific Digital Marketing Survey. This is the fourth time we have run the survey, which (it will not surprise you to learn) was conducted online. Thanks to Digital Media magazine, HKDMA, Hong Kong 4As, IAA HK and the HKIM for helping us reach out to advertisers, marketers and their agencies regionwide. The full survey results are available online here. The headlines are: Speaking of useful industry data, the ADMA Yearbook will be back again in 2008. The first edition was given a huge welcome. Printed and PDF copies found their way onto the desks of marketers, agencies, analysts and Internet executives around the world. It's not too soon to start providing data for this valuable resource - please share data, trends, and insights with Kay Bayliss. Back to Top ![]() ADMA ANNUAL REGIONAL DIGITAL MARKETING SURVEY The results of the fourth annual industry survey conducted by the Asia Digital Marketing Association (ADMA) have been released. The results indicate that both large and small companies are increasing their investment in digital marketing. 39% of respondents said they will spend more than 15% of their marketing budget on digital marketing. This represents an increase of 16% over 2006. Over two thirds of those surveyed said that their online budgets have increased over last year. Click HERE to view the results of the survey. The survey was supported by Digital Media magazine, the Hong Kong Institute of Marketing, the Hong Kong Direct Marketing Association, the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents of Hong Kong and the IAA (Hong Kong chapter). ADMA DIGITAL MARKETING YEARBOOK The ADMA will again publish its Asia Pacific Digital Marketing Yearbook in 2008. Stuffed with data on the Internet and user trends, last year's Yearbook also include perspectives on the way forward for advertisers in 2007, case studies and individual country profiles. The Yearbook has proven a valuable resource for marketers, online publishers, ad agencies and media buyers, interactive media houses, and technology solutions providers. Back to Top ![]() PHASE TWO IMPLEMENTATION OF THE HONG KONG UEM ORDINANCE Phase Two of the UEM Ordinance commenced on 22 December 2007. Senders of commercial electronic messages are required to provide unsubscribe facility in messages and are prohibited from sending electronic messages to numbers on the fax, short message and pre-recorded message Do-Not-Call Registers (DNCs). OFTA issued a code of practice (CoP) on 26 November 2007 as a practical guide to facilitate senders of commercial electronic messages to comply with the Ordinance and the Regulation. Below are the commencement dates of pre-registration for the three DNCs: Senders of electronic messages can apply for subscription to download the most updated DNCs now. Citizens who wish not to receive electronic marketing messages anymore can also register your numbers on the three DNCs according to different pre-registration dates. MMA ISSUES APAC MOBILE MARKETING ADVERTISING GUIDELINES The Mobile Advertising Guidelines for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region were released on 6 December 2007 and are designed to foster the uptake of mobile advertising by brands and marketers throughout the region, as well as enhance and ensure a positive and consistent consumer experience. The guidelines provide detailed, hands-on information about creating, formatting and using Mobile Web banner ads including design principles and style guides, technical requirements and considerations and advertising units. VIETNAM TO INTRODUCE ANTI-SPAM LEGISLATION Spammers would have to pay up to dong 100 million (US$6,000) fines for sending what the government might consider as reprobate emails, according to a new bill drafted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The draft bill was agreed upon at a meeting in Hanoi Tuesday, 6 November 2007. The ADMA will be submitting comments on the draft bill. THE WALL STREET JOURNAL ASIA LAUNCHES ONLINE ADVERTISING RATE CALCULATOR - An Industry First The Wall Street Journal Asia recently launched an interactive advertising rate calculator as part of its new 2008 online media guide. The new guide provides advertisers and agencies with the necessary information for pricing and placing ads in the Journal. Media buyers can easily obtain both general rate information and information on section-by-section availability for specific ad units, by seeking quotes either by ad size or placement. With just a few clicks, they can calculate rates for standard and creative ad units; local editions, multiple editions and full-runs in Asia; and single or multiple frequencies. The new online media guide also provides useful information such as the most recent audited circulations figures; the 2008 editorial and events calendars; and research highlights sorted by category.
