Back to Top ![]() OFTA SEEKS PUBLIC CONSULTATION ON UEM ORDINANCE CODE OF PRACTICE With a view to addressing the problem of unsolicited electronic messages, the Government enacted the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Ordinance (UEM Ordinance) in May this year. Under the UEM Ordinance, the Telecommunications Authority may issue a Code of Practice (CoP) for the purpose of providing practical guidance in respect of the application or operation of any provision of the UEM Ordinance (eg the requirement to provide accurate sender information, unsubscribe facility and unsubscribe facility statement in commercial electronic messages). OFTA has now issed a public consultation paper on the CoP. The consultation paper (with the draft CoP) can be downloaded from their Web site. Back to Top ![]() SCMP.COM LAUNCHES VIDEO MARKETING CAMPAIGN ADMA Corporate member SCMP.com's marketing campaign for the launch of its new site got underway in late July with the distribution of two humourous "viral" marketing videos. The campaign, carrying the tagline "SCMP.com makes China make sense", was developed by OgilvyOne (another ADMA Corporate member) and depicts a bewildered American President George W. Bush alongside China President Hu Jintao at a White House press conference. Since launch, the campaign has rapidly spread across multiple video-sharing and social networking sites including YouTube.com and Facebook.com. SCMP.com publisher Chris Axberg said, "We wanted to reach a new international audience that is interested in news in English on Greater China. At the same time, we wanted to showcase our new multimedia platform and content." Back to Top ![]() LAST CHANCE TO PARTICIPATE The ADMA is currently conducting its fourth annual Regional Digital Marketing Survey in conjunction with Digital Media magazine. The survey is supported by the Hong Kong Institute of Marketing, the Hong Kong Direct Marketing Association, The Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of Hong Kong and the The International Association of Advertisers - Hong Kong Chapter. Last year, the survey revealed that both large and small companies are increasing their investment in digital marketing. 30% of respondents said they will spend more than 15% of their marketing budget on digital marketing. This represents an increase of 44% over 2004. Two thirds of those surveyed said that their online budgets have increased over last year, with 28% indicating they will spend between US$50,000 to US$1 million online in 2006, and a further 16% saying they will invest more than US$1 million.
